The devil in the dark lord
Tom Riddle, or Lord Voldemort is the antagonist working against Harry. He demands power and to assert his dominance to his followers and prey. Power is the only thing that matters to Lord Voldemort, as well as living forever, and purifying the Wizarding World of impure blood. He goes to great lengths to hurt people, even during childhood when he tortures other kids in his orphanage for fun. Voldemort believes that it is his fate to gain the most power to fulfill what his great grandfather imagined: a world with only pure bloods.
Voldemort strongly dislikes Muggle people, and believes that pure bloods are a higher race then Muggle borns. In believing this, Voldemort attempts to leave all sense of humility and love (if he ever had any) behind to take action against these groups. This leads to his downfall. Harry uses his caring heart to reach out to those who helped in the final battle, giving his people something to fight for, just like Jesus, (but more violent).
Dumbledore, who acts as a God figure in this series, is the only one Voldemort ever feared. Strong over all but Dumbledore, it is easy to see how this relationship further proves Voldemort as a Satan figure. More specifically stated in the story, Voldemort was supposed to resemble a snake, which is a direct symbol of Satan, who took the form of a snake in the Garden of Eden to tempt Adam and Eve. Voldemort is also a master tempter. He uses power and glory to tempt his followers to do the horrible things to Muggles and half bloods. Without a doubt, Voldemort has striking similarities to the Devil.
